Jan 1 New Year’s Day Thur Clear cold 14 degrees Stayed home all day. Mr. And Mrs Potts were here this evening.

2 Fri Cloudy 22 Potts, Freeman and Hoagland and I went to old Knaggs cabin and stayed all night , but no light came on.

3 Sat Cloudy and little warmer. I went to Knaggs and the store.

4 Sun About 20 degrees. Clear. We visited Bates’s this afternoon.

5 Mon About 20. clear. Called on Lindstrom today; I went to First Aid and Defense meeting this evening.

6 Tue 24 degrees and cloudy. I went to Marx’s and got their field glasses. Drove to Sifes and got a half of a butchered whether goat. Took Jean out for a game but it was called off.

7 Wed 32 and ice all over. Took Irene to Mrs. Rasler party and I stayed with Vern. Kellar until it was over. Potts took Mrs Bates to the hospital today.

8 Thur Light rains and melting ice and snow. I got the mail. Bessie sent a rag doll to Irene for her birthday. Jean stayed at Kellers last nite as there was no school. Irene canned goat meat all day.

9 Fri Cloudy but about 40 degrees. I cut wood with the donkey engine all day. Irene was washed. There was no school today.

10 Sat Cloudy; Jean and I went to the store today. Knaggs were at the store also. Irene baked bread.

11 Sun clear weather 21 degrees. Put two new brushes in generator. Irene has not been feeling very well on account of sinus.

12 Mon Cloudy and mist. Irene’s 46 birthday had 5 ladies to her party. I started cutting big log at the mill for wood. 

13 Tue Nice clear weather. Ed Lindstrom helped me cut wood and also filed up my saw. Irene was sick with sinus.

14 Wed Clear. Ed Lindstrom helped me cut wood brought first trailer load down tonite. Hat to change Generator brush today.

15. The Cloudy and cold. I cut wood up at the mill all day and brought two trailer loads down.

16. Fri Cloudy and light mist. I drove over to F.C. Mulvey’s place at Fargo to guy a goat but they were sold  out. Got groceries and came home Irene washed.

17 Sat Bob and Carol came last nite and Irene did their washing today. Loraine Keller came up to visit Jean.

18. Sun Nice weather. I tried to file my 6.5 saw. Loraine went home after dinner.

19 Mon Clear 30. I cut wood at the mill. One of East’s men worked at the mill all day.

20 Tue Clear 30 degrees. I worked on the wood log.

21 Wed  clear 30 degree. I worked on the log all day. 

22 Thu Clear and warmer. I cut another 32 inch block off tree at mill. Irene washed.

23 Fri 40 degree and raining. I did not work on the wood as my wrist was pretty lame.

24 Sat Cloudy and high winds came up during afternoon. Jeans class went to the oaks today and I helped Potts repair his furnace. Chrysler Sedan OR 248649 here today. Jeans’ class got homeat 2 am.

25 Sun Nice day. I got up about 10 am. Bob and Carol came while I was eating breakfast. Bob fixed a spring clip on his car.

26 Mon Cloudy and showers- on watch at P.O. 1 am to 4 am. Stayed in the house all day. Irene sewed.

27 Tue Rain: I cut a block off the tree and hauled a trailer load. Took a watch for another fellow, while Jean was at a basket ball game.

28 Wed Cloudy: I split up a block of wood and lived up generation this afternoon.

29 Thur Nice weather: I sawed wood and Irene washed. Took Jean down to the school game and I waited at the watch station.

30 Cloudy all day. I saw wood all day. Jean went to the Presidents Birthday program at the school tonight and rode with Kellers.

31 Sat Cloudy and windy; I went to Bates to get a saw gage. Filed my saw.
********************** February. *********************************

1 Sun Nice day: we went to Mollalla and spent the day with Bob and Carol Loraine and Dorene rode home from Colton.

2 Mon Cloudy few showers: I cut wood . Lee East got a load of machinery from mill. I attended school NYA program.

3 Tue Cloudy Wind and Rain. I split up a block of wood. East moved the moved the boiler out today from the mill.

4 Wed wind and rain: Stayed in the house all day. Albert was up have this afternoon. Mr Deets see a light on Wenger hill during the night.

5  Thu Cloudy. I cleaned bush out all day. East took the engine out today.

6 Fri Cloudy rain during afternoon. I cleaned logs out in the brush patch. Kellers took Jean to game and I went after Jean and Loraine.

7. Sat Cloudy and light rain. Worked on the brush patch awhile and went to the store.

8 Sun Cloudy and rained all day. We stayed hour and had no company.

9 Mon Rained all day: Called on Fred Hassing. Father Alcuium and Nickles. Also see Barney awhile talked to Mr. Deets awhile.

10 Tue Cloudy and showers. I worked in the lower garden. Jean went to a game at Salem and stayed at Marx. Mrs. Marx gave us a box of squash.

11 Wed Nice weather. Called on Potts awhile and we went Gordons and Nyquist.

12 Thu Lincoln’s birthday. Cut up rotten log in the garden today.

13 Fri Clear and freezing. On watch from 9 pm to 4 am.

14  Sat Nice weather: Took Jean and Loraine Keller to Knaggs and gathered up paper for school defense stamp benefit. Also went to the store.

15. Sun Nice weather. Bob and Carol were here all day. Ilene Potts and some of her friends came through this afternoon.

16 Mon Cloudy. Resasaker and Tomlin were here this am. Albert Potts was here the afternoon and I called on Potts and Koch later about radio code signals. 

17 Tue Cloudy at 12 am. Resacker, Allen and Ragedale came in here and we went up in Werner hill until 4 am.

18 Wed Nice weather; Bob and Carol came this afternoon. I cleaned old log out of garden. Irene visited Olive.

19 Thu Nice weather. I worked an old login garden. Bob and Carol moved out from Mollalla.

20 Fri Cloudy and stormy. Bob and I called on Luckenback, S.s. Co and Oregon (illegible) . Also see Sheriff Reasacker and Pope. Took Jean to game.

21 Sat Bob had to report to draft board today. I went to the store for groceries.

22.Sun Clear. Bob, Carol and Jean left for Fort Lewis about 4 am. This afternoon I went up to the Werner road a car came up while I was there.

23 Mon Rain. I worked in garden until it rained. Potts came up and told us about cars in hill. Ed Lindstrom, Bob and I went up but did not see anything.

24 Tue Showers and rain. Called on Albert for a few minutes. Bob and Carol went to Estacada. I grubbed out cedar stump. Evanson was here this evening from sheriffs office.

25 Wed Clear water. Potts gave truck no 54-924. We went to Vancouver called on McGrath and Bob and I went to the Coast Guard.

26 Thu I worked in garden all day. Bob passed Coast Guard exam today and they got home by noon. Evanson and a state cop went through today.

27 Fri Worked in lower garden ground awhile.

28 Sat Cool weather went to the store and came home via Knaggs.

29 Sun Nice weather. I worked in the garden nearly all day.

1 Sun Nice weather. I worked in the garden nearly all day.

2 Mon Cloudy. I worked in the garden all day. Ed Lindstrom had Potts call the sheriff or state police out to hill two dogs that had caught a deer.

3. Tue Nice weather. I worked in the garden all day. Bob helped me pull wheel barrows of manure up to tomato patch.

4 Wed Nice weather. Bob and I worked in the garden all day.

5 Thu Went to Estacada with Bob this morning. I worked on Potts generator this afternoon and Bob and Carol went up to Stephensons.

6 Fri Nice weather. I worked on Potts generator nearly all day. PGE man was there and we got it going.

7 Sat Nice weather. I worked in the garden all day.

 8 Sun  Cloudy. Cut some wood with the donkey engine and split it up for both house.

9 Mon Went on watch at 1 am. And had to stay until 7 am. As no relief showed up. Irene washed and rained. Evanson and Bell were here this afternoon.

10 Tue Cloudy worked in Goat barn and pen all morning.

11 Wed Showers of rain. I got a load of planks from mill.

12 Thu Nice weather. Tore up some plants at mill. Hedy had to white billy kids about noon today. Got groceries from the store. 

13 Fri Snowing at 8 am. Irene went to Stafenson’s party this afternoon. I cut wood on buzz saw. Cheve car OR 183434 was up to the mill and took out cables.

14 Sat Clear weather . This am. Jean went to Courows to weight paper.

15 Sun Nice weather. I worked on goat barn this morning. Flyd Stephenson family were here this afternoon showed their movies.

16 Mon Nice weather Irene washed and I worked on goat barn.

17 Tue Rain. I made 32” shakes all day.

18 Wed Took the little kids out of goat barn and put them in the wood shed. 

19 Thu Had a hard time milking Hedy. Muggy only gave about a quart and half. 

20 Fri Nice weather. I went to Lee Easts will and bought some lumber. Irene went with me to the old mill and we Brough 20 2x4x18. 7- 2x6x18 and 4- 4x416

21 Sat Cloudy and windy . I worked on the goat barn and started from work.

22 Sun Had one or two sleet storms today. I cut some more wood with the buzz saw. Had no company today. Irene did not feel well this afternoon.

23 Mon Worked on goat barn in between sleet storms. Irene sick at stomach all day. And part of night. Knaggs was here today. Potts also called a little later.

24 Tue Little snow this am. Put rafters on goat barn. Irene felt a little better. Lindstrom gave us a bucket of smelt this evening.

25 Wed Light snow on ground. I split some more shakes. Took Jean to and from a school party.

26 Thu Nice weather. Looked over road with Lindstrom about noon Mrs. Rask brought Aunt Maine telegram advising of Dads death. Went to Oregon City and Vancouver tonight.

27 Fri Nice weather. I worked on goat barn all day. Jean and Loraine went for a hike.

28 Sat Nice weather. I went to the store this am. Finished putting on shakes in north half of goat barn. Ed Lindstrom gave us about 50 lbs. of smelt.

29 Sun Nice day. Bob and Carol came about noon. I did not work as my hand was sore from making shakes.

30 Mon Warm day. Bob split 32” shakes and I put on the south half of goat barn roof.

31 Tue Cloudy. I put boards on other side of barn. Bob and Carol went home Irene fix and found for hot bed.

1 Wed Nice weather. Went to Salem called on Reid Murdoch. Fred Prosser and Fathers alcinery ( illegible).

2 Thu Received letter from Springfield Co of Provence (illegible)

3 Fri Ed Lindstrom gave no some smelt.

4 Sat Nice weather. Jean worked at Potts. Bob and Carol and Leland were here this evening.

5 Sun Cloudy. Easter . Sawed some wood and worked on the donkey engine awhile

6 Mon Bob and Carol came up this afternoon.

7 Tue Judy had a billy and Annie kid this afternoon. Bob and Carol went down to Well’s after they had been up to Vancouver.

8 Wed Worked in goat farm all day.

9 Thu Nice weather. Worked in goat barn all day. Putting in stalls.

10 Fri Nice weather: We butchered Ferdinan today and he dressed 11 lbs.

11 Sat Cloudy: went to store. Jean prayed eggs at Potts worked in goat barn. Bob and Carol came for supper.

12 Sun Nice weather: Bob and Carol went back to Well’s They having hoeing strawberry. I cleaned gravel out of flume. Judys kids drank out of pan today.

12 Mon Cloudy: I cut a cut off the log at mill and hauled it down in the trailer.

14 Tue Showers of rain. I cut one cut off the log at the mill. Irene did not feel very well.

15 Wed Nice weather. Got up at 5 am. We went to M.G.Wids (?) illegible in Portland and bought 14.00 worth of stuff. Loraine went along also went to Vancouver.  [Jean Gillette’s birthday]

16 Thu Stormy weather: I fooled around with the Larson radio in the bunk house. High wind during the afternoon.

17 Fri Cloudy: Irene had to stay in bed this morning as she still had piles.[old term for hemorrhoids]. Tried to cut on log but it rained during afternoon.

18 Sat Nice weather. Bob came up this morning. Irene washed , Carol went to sale. I worked on the car and around place, went to store, Dorthy Mortenson birthday party was tonight and Jean went.

19 Sun Nice water. I filed my saw today and got it to work pretty good.

20 Mon Nice day only seemed pretty hot. I worked in garden awhile and cut wood.

21 Tue On watch 1 am. To 4 am. Cut wood at the mill all days. Started raining this evening.

22 Wed Cloudy and it rained most of the day. I split a few fir shakes to put on the barn cracks.

23 Thu Rain. I fixed an extra floor in the goat barn stalls and split up another cut at the mill. Took Jean to school practice and visited Marx family this evening.

24 Fri Showers of rain most of the day. Bob came up about noon and greased the springs on his car.

25 Sat Rain: I registered at the Oregon City Draft board office . Called on Deweys. Box 197 Rt 12 Milard Wilard here and Mr. George Bass of Springwater.

26 Sun Cloudy: I stuck around house. Bob and Carol came this evening. Worked on radio in the bunk house.

27 Mon Rain: Ed helped me give Judy (goat) a worm capsule. Stayed around house most of the day. Fixed a leak on the toilet.

28 Tue Cloudy. I cut wood at the mill. We visited Marx’s this evening.

29 Wed Bob was up here all day and helped me saw off a cut at the mill.

30 Thu Rained all day. Irene washed. Received a package from Aunt Mamie with fathers watch and jewel case that was mothers in it.

1 Fri Rain in showers. Bob came. Up to get a tire. Irene and Jean went to the school operetta and I stayed with Russ in the watch house.

2. Sat Cloudy: I cut some wood with buzzsaw. Jean worked at Potts until 10 pm. And made $2.00
  Bob received Coast Guard notice that he is to enter May 25th.

3 Sun Cloudy: I chinked up the flume. Bob and Carol were here for dinner.

4. Mon Cloudy and showers. During morning. I called in Kruse and Randall at Court House. Called on Machinist Sec. and also Walter Mayo.

5 Tue Nice weather: I split up a cut of wood. We visited Marx’s and had supper over there. Louise and her husband ? Marris were there.

6 Wed Nice weather: I went to Clugells (illegible) and Elwood but he was not home. Went to Oregon City and got Dad’s tools and met Raymond Creswell. Irene went to a party.

7. Thu Nice day: I put a couple condensers on Potts generator this am. Spaded garden this afternoon.

8 Fri Cloudy: I spaded garden all day. Took Irene and Jean to mother daughter banquet and attended a defense meeting.

9 Sat Showers: I cut weeds and sharpened scythe and axes.

10 Sun Showers of rain: Mothers Day. We stayed home all day. Richard Bates came there with girl friend. Wrote Aunt Maime a letter.

11 Mon Fair: Called on Mr Hohwiesner of Star Food Product Co. at Portland. Went on watch tonight at 1am. To 4.

12 Tue Cloudy: stayed around house all day as I did not get any sleep last nite. Bob and Carol and Marie were here for supper.

13 Wed Nice weather: Butchered pudding head and Pin head this morning. 

14  Thu Cloudy: I sawed wood with buzzsaw. Irene washed and caught a bad cold.

15 Fri Rained all nite. Went Portland but could not get what I wanted at Montgomery [Wards]. Bessy came home with me. Irene was sick in bed a cold. I went to school recital with Jean.

16 Sat Nice weather: Bob and I hauled goats to Clovise’s . Went to Oregon City with bob and Carol came up with us on way home.

17. Sun Nice weather: Jean and I attended party given at  Bob and Stodards place. Irene and Bessy both sick. Took Jean to high school seniors services at Luthern church.

18 Mon Got up at 4:30 am. And packed my things. Unloaded tools at 7:30 am. At Stars. First days work. Stayed at wights all night. 

19 Tue Had breakfast at Dite’s Went with HG Hohwiesmer to Salem to see bean machinery got back to Portland about 7 pm.

20 Wed Warm weather. Worked all day. Site Paulines Donald took me out to Earls tonight.

21 Cloudy but warm. Worked in Bean room.

22 Fri Rained all day. I worked in bean room all day. Peggy and children were at Dites awhile this evening.

23 Sat Rain. Placed an order at JJRoss Co. this am. Went home on way register at New Sargent Hotel room 477. Called on Clouse this afternoon. Bob and Carol went to Sipes place.

24 Sun Cloudy. Went with Sipes to Elwood and loaded up the goats. Went to Dites this evening and got my things and moved them to room in Portland.

25 Mon Cloudy and rains worked all day and then drove home as I forgot my keys yesterday and returned to Portland.

26 Tue Cloudy all day and cool. Worked in bean room awhile.

27 Cloudy and some rain. Worked in the shop most of the day.

28 Thu Cloudy all day and a few light showers. Worked in bean room all day on grader.

29  Fri Cloudy worked all day in bean room. Went home and paid Danielson’s $25.00

30 Sat Memorial Day. Worked on the generator. All morning and got it going in fashion.

31 Sun Cloudy all day. Irene and worked in the garden most of the day. Left at 6:15 pm. And came back to Sargent hotel

1 Mon Received gooseberries from Salem and also started on barreled strawberries with a nite crew. I called on Cyrus Electric Co after supper.

2 Tue Nice weather worked around plant all day.

3 Wed Cloudy warked around plant all day and until about 10:30 pm. 

4 Thu Nice weather: Had muffler on car fixed. Went over the Dites this evening and paid him $20.00 which he had loaned me.

5 Fri warm worked on job all day. Came up shower and rained hard this evening. Paid Sargent Hotel $3.75. room rent June 7 to June 14.

6 Sat Cloudy: Worked all day and left plant at 4 pm. For home. Irene had a sprained ankle and I had to take her to Dr. Klensage (illegible). Came back to town @ 129 am. 

7 Sun Cloudy: Had one fellow painting. Took cannery motor and our generators to the Cyrus Electri Co. and got them worked over.

8. Mon Cloudy and rains. Worked until 6 pm. Took generator home. Bessy came back to Vancouver with me.

9 Cloudy and rains. Ran strawberries until after dinner time. Tested out syrup pup etc.

10 Wed Rain worked in plant all day.

11 Thu Cloudy. Worked in plant all day. Got my car fixed up and passed the test costs $8.00.

12 Fri Cloudy Had a busy day keeping all the mechanics going.

13 Sat Warm day. I painted wood work in first aid room. Left at 6:30 pm. And went home.

14 Sun Cloudy: Patched a tire this am. Left at 12:30 came back to town. Started strawberry crew at 3pm. Got done by 7 pm.

15 Mon Cloudy and Rain. Started up Strawberry crew at 6:30 pm. Received a letter from Bob. Received pay and paid room rent to 21st.

16 Tue Cloudy and Rains. We were busy all day getting ready for cherry run.

17 Wed Cloudy. Started cherries at 10 am.

18 Thu Fair weather. Had a night crew on cherries today. Stayed with Strawberries crew until 12 midnight.

19 Fri Fair weather. Bought car insure from Taggesell Motor Co. First night run of R.A. Cherries [Royal Ann]

20 Sat Fair weather. Tried to get some sleep. Got a tire vulcanized on car. Went in job at 7 pm. And came off at 7 am.

21 Sun Fair weather. Packed cherries all night.

22 Mon Went to Colton and stayed all day. Run cherries all night.

23 Tue Walt and I went out to supper before starting work.

24 Wed Got up at 4 pm. Worked cherries and strawberries all night.

25 Thu Cloudy and rain. Got up at 2:30pm. And went over to Vancouver for a little while worked Cherries all nite.

26. Fri Cloudy. Worked on cherries all nite.

27 Sat Fair weather. Run cherries all nite. First night the Supt. Did not show up.

28 Sun Nice weather. Slept all day and worked all untie as usual.

29 Mon Hot weather. I went out to ranch and had to get Irene a bunch of groceries. Blew a tire out on way back to town.

30 Tue Hot weather. Had to discard blowed out tire. Bought $5.00 federal auto tax stamp.

1 Wed Very Hot. Went out to Oregon City to see tire board but they were closed.

2. Thu. Very Hot 106 degrees. Slept all day.

3 Fri Not so hot today. Worked all night on RA Cherries as usual went to Oregon City.

4 Sat Independence Day. Went home this morning. Jean and I raised flume and cleaned it out. Went to Knaggs this evening.

5. Sun Warm. Came back to work at 7am. And we canned bing cherries all day.

6 Mon Worked in bean room all day. Nice weather. Ben Shanks quit today.

7 Tue Cooler weather. Worked in Bean room all day.

8 Wed Nice weather. Worked in Bean room all day.

9 Thu Nice weather. Ben Dirks and I worked in the bean room all day.

10 Fri Nice weather. Worked in the bean room all day.

11 Sat Nice weather. I worked in the bean room all day. Left at 4:30 and left town at 5:15 get out to the ranch at 7:30 pm. Carol was there.

12 Sun Nice weather: Split up some wood. Jean, Carol and I went to Lindstromes and I paid Ed in full for cutting wood. We went to Wells this afternoon.

13. Mon Left home at 5 am. And got to work at 7 am. Worked in bean room all day.

14 Tue Showers of rain during day. I worked in bean room all day. Received check for $125 today.

15 Wed Worked in the bean room all day.

16. Thu Nice weather. Worked in bean room. Went to Dites this evening and we went out to Bessie new place and tried to fix the water rain?/ saw?

17 Fri Worked in the bean room all day with Red. Went on night shift at 4 pm.

18 Sat Nice weather. Went home at 2am. Jean and I went after groceries . Came back to work on the job at 4 pm.

19 Sun Warm weather. Went to work at 4 pm. And we had a big run. Was short of help.

20 Mon Hot weather. Had apricots and berries also wrote Bob a letter before leaving the room.

21 Tue Hot weather. Had tires inspected at Oregon City. Made application for recap tire. Worked all night.

22 Wed Cooler. Things were in a mess at the cannery. Everybody was in a fighting mood.

23 Thu Nice weather. Run cots and Boysenberries 8 hours.

24 Fri Nice weather. Worked on cots and red raspberries 8 hours.

25 Sat Nice weather. Worked all night on cots and raspberries. Went home next morning.

26 Sun Nice weather: split up some wood. Took Jean to Marx’s.

27 Mon Nice weather. Came back to work this morning.

28 Tue Nice weather. Worked in bean room all day. Took night shift on berries tonight.

29 Wed Cool weather. Got up at 10:30 am. 

30 Thu Nice weather. Worked in bean room all day.

31 Fri Nice weather. Worked in bean room all day. Went home this evening.

2 Sun Nice weather. Tried to jack up power house a little, called on Albert Potts this evening.

3 Mon Nice weather: got up at 3:30 am Got to work at 7 am. Fixed up machinery.

4 Tue Nice weather. Canned a few beans. First days run.

5 wed Nice weather. We repaired machinery all day. [Frank’s 47th birthday]

23 Sun Nice weather. Fixed pump belt. Jean went to a wedding with Dorthy Martinson.

24 Mon Cooler canned beans all day and helped start off the night shift.

10 Sat Cloudy: Went to Vancouver and got Uncle George Mallory and Bessie and took them home.

12 Mon Cloudy: Got some groceries for Irene this morning. Took Uncle George Mallory to Oregon City this am. Went to work at 1 pm. 

13 Cloudy: We finished the last of the string bean run today at 2:30pm.

14 Wed Cloudy : I took off elevator belts in bean room. Went over to depot and got a time table.

15 Thu Nice weather: I took junk out of the millwright room all day.

16 Fri Nice weather: I worked don the junk this morning. Worked in bean room during afternoon.

17 Sat Worked in bean room all morning. Figured on bean equipment with Howiezuer all afternoon. Came thru Oregon City and called on Marie and came home.

18 Sun Fixed a tire and we took Jean to Silverton to see Kleinsorge about her sore heel. Did not get back until after 5 pm. Had to padlock gate tonite.

19 Mon Got up at 4 am. And came to work at 7:30 and worked in bean machinery all day.

20 Tue Greased up machinery in bean room today.

21  Wed Worked in Bean room all day.

22 Thu  Nice weather . Helped take pipes apart in bean room retorts (??)

23 Fri Was sick this morning so got off from work and went home this morning.

24 Sat nice weather; Took Jean to Oregon City and she got a pair of shoes.

25 Sun Nice weather: Called hotel and found out we had a telegram from Bob. Irene Carol and I’d drove to Seattle got there about 2:30 am. They got bob out of bed at the camp. 

26 Mon Bob got the day off and we got a room at the Mansfield hotel on James Street.

27 Tue Got up at 6 am. Had breakfast and took Bob out to Jefferson Park camp. Visited Flemings a little while in Tacoma got home about 7 pm.

28 Wed Cool weather. Went a few errands and stuck around bean room all day.

29 Thu Cool weather. I worked in bean room all day Also painted a skylight with blackout paint.

30 Fri Cold wet weather. I painted a retort today.

31 Sat Cold rain. I painted another retro and checked out went home last day on job.

6 Fri Stayed home all day and cut some wood.

7 Sat Went to the store and bought groceries.

8 Sun Worked around fence all day. Came back to Portland this evening.

9 Mon Cold weather went job hunting all day.

10 Cool and clear signed up for job at Swan Island. Went home to get my work coat and came back.

11 Wed Worked 8 hours at Swan Island and got time and 1/2.

12 Thu Nice weather. Worked 8 hours.

13 Fri Rained this afternoon. Worked 8 hours.

14 Sat Rained all afternoon. Worked 8 hours.

15 Sun Worked 8 hours. Bob and Carol came while I was eating supper but did not stay very long.

16 Mon Cold rain. I was sick all morning. Went home at 11:30 sick. Worked 4.5 hours.

17 Tue Stayed home sick.

18 Wed Felt a little better and worked on flume.

19 Went to store and worked on flume.

20 Fri Nice weather. Mr Lundbacken helped me fix the last section of the flume.

21 Sat Rained during afternoon. Worked 8 hours. Bob and a buddy named Shaw came in about 11 pm. And woke me up. I got up and took them to Oregon City.

22. Sun Rain: worked on the aft winch all day. Bob and Carol came up to the room awhile this evening.

23 Mon Rained all day. Worked on the aft winch all day.

24 Tue Rained until noon. We finished up the aft winch and went to the engine room all day.

25 Wed Raine . Worked all day in engine room.

26 Thu Heavy rains. Worked in motor room all day. Went home and drove thru some water on highway everyone was OK home.

27 Fri Rained during am. Removed a log from lane [?] and cleaned out ditch on new road. We had Thanksgiving dinner today instead of Thursday. Came back this evening to hotel.

28 Sat Rained all day. Worked on aft winch and also checked base of winch on hull number two.
29 Sun Archer and I worked on aft winch all day.

30 Mon Rained awhile this morning. I went home this evening and it rained on the way.

18 Fri Cloudy: Worked on aft fuel pump in main rotor room. Bob came in tonite and we went over to Vancouver.

19 Sat Cloudy. Worked in steering room. Took Bob and Carol down to the ranch.

20 Sun Cloudy. Came back to town this morning and worked in steering room. Bob and Carol came up the the room a fw minutes this evening.

21 Mon Rain. Worked in aft winch most of the day. Went to Vancouver to get Irenes fur coat but the joint was closed up.

22  Tue Worked all day at shipyard. Went to Vancouver and got Irenes coat.

23 Wed Worked 8 hours and went home this evening.

24 Thu Irene, Carol, and I went to Silverton to do some shopping.

25 Fri Christmas Day. Stayed home and cut wood. Ed got stuck across plank road, so I could not get out.

26 Sat Stayed home all day. Took Jean to store and back.

27 Sun Rain. Was initiated in the AFofL machinists union this am. Went over to Irvans and visited balance of day.

28 Mon Worked in steering gear room all day. Wrote Irene a letter this evening.

29 Tue Hard rains and wind all day. Worked in steering gear room all day. 

30 Wed Light rain in morning worked in steering gear and tale [tail?] shaft on hull 2.

Dec 31, 1935 Tue.-  little sunshine: Ray Fliker’s funeral was held this a.m. Cramer patrons meeting held today I had to wait for a table at same.

Dec 30. Mon. - heavy rains. worked in office all day. Bob and I finished the glue jobs on radio cabinet this evening.

Dec 29, Sun- Cloudy and rains . Stayed home all day and worked on my radio cabinet.

Dec 28, Sat - Cloudy and rains: Ray Ficker died this a.m. as result of auto accident last night. Dad Hart returned home this a.m. with barbonniam? on truck line.

Dec 27, Fri.- Cloudy and foggy. Worked in office all day. Worked on John Haslin’s radio this evening. Worked on radio equipment this evening.

Dec 26, Thurs.- Cloudy and rain. Worked in the office all day. Did some work on my new radio cabinet this evening.

Dec 25, Wed - Xmas Day, Cloudy and rain. Jean had a fun time with her new U.P. train set.

Dec 24, Tues.- went out and got a Xmas truths a.m. Wrote letter in afternoon. Kids opened presents this evening. Dite and Pauline brought Dad Hart down.

Dec. 23, Mon - Clear, cold today. Worked in the office all day. Received a request for Walt’s preares (illegible).

Dec 22, Sun.- Cold and clear. Bob and his girl Gennet? went to Vancouver today and brought Grandma Hart back. Irene and I went to Christmas program tonight.

Dec 21, Sat - Cold and clear. Worked in office all day. Had the brakes on car checked up. I cut out radio cabinet on T.B.’s jigsaw.

Dec 20 Fri - 26 degrees on porch this morning. Worked in office all day.

Dec 19 Thur. - Cold freezing weather this evening. Xmas presents arrived from Sears and Roebuck . Worked in office all day. Worked on radio cabinet this evening.

Dec 18, Wed - cool weather : worked in office all day. Bob, Irene, and I went into Silverton this evening evening as Irene wanted to do a little shopping.

Dec 17, Tues - Frosty weather. Worked in the office all day.

Dec 16 Mon. - Clear and cool. I went to Portland with Herman Schwab this morning on truck as we had a shipment going in. Got Irene a silver coffee ?? . got home at 5:30.

Dec 15, Sun -Cloudy and foggy. Stayed home all day. Irene made out an order of a list of Xmas  things this afternoon.

Dec 14, Sat - Heavy fog. Took  Mabel to Woodbury to meet the 8:55 a.m. train. Jean stayed home as she had a cold. 

Dec 13 Friday - Worked in office all day. Also had crew  labeling Took Mabel to the Palace theater this evening.

Dec 12, Thur. rains. worked in office all day. Bob and Irene met Mabel at train this evening. I fixed radio while they were away, so it played wonderful.

Dec 11. Wed. - Cloudy. Bob and I went to Salem to get some new cloth for our radio and we finished cabinet this evening.

Dec 10 Tue. - cloudy weather. worked in office all day. Had directors meeting this evening.

Dec 9 Mon. - cloudy and rains. Mr Henry Berning? a neighbor of ours was buried today.Bob and I were in Portland today. also called on  on Mr. Dier and went to see show in Silverton on way home.

Dec 7, Sat. - Cloudy and rains. Worked in office all day. Bob and I went to Colton and seen Reene Nails. He paid us $25 on account.

Dec 6. Fri.- Cloudy and rains. Shipped out some goods to ?? illegible Paulson?? yesterday. And labeled 25 cases #2 today for Seattle today.

Nov 28. Thu.- (Thanksgiving )Nice weather left about 7:45 for Vancouver. Had dinner with Dad and Bessie and got home again about 5:45 p.m. Bob did not go with us.

Nov 27 Wed.- Nice weather worked in office all day. Went to Mt.Angel show in evening . Seen Shirley Temple in Curley Top also I assume  lunch friesed??? were given out.

Nov. 26 Tues. - Worked in office all day. Bought a goose from Frank Magee for $1.77 for our Thanksgiving dinner. 

Nov. 25 Mon.- Nice weather worked in office most of the day. Went to Silverton awhile and called Mr. Gates at the school about wood dyes etc.

Nov. 24 Sun. - Cloudy and cool. Bob and I called on Lindstrom. Mr. Potts and got our lumber tally sheets. Irene was not feeling very well this evening.

Nov. 23 Sat.- Nice weather:. Called in Mr. Weinwacht this a.m. and had him sign some checks. Irene and I went to town in evening to look for Lucky numbers on treasure hunt.

Nov. 22 Fri.- Warm rains worked in office all day. Sold 127 cases of choice cherries. Worked on radio cabinet awhile in evening.

Nov 21 Thu. - Nice weather. We finished shipping goods to dock for our N.Y. car also put up some goods for Paulus(?).

Nov. 20 Wed.- Clear weather but cool. I worked in office all day. Bob and Irene went to Silverton in afternoon.

Nov. 19, Tue.- Cold weather: John Hassler worked on heat element of the labeling machine. Bob and I worked on radio cabinet in evening.

Nov. 18, Mon.- Cold frosty weather this a.m. Worked in office all day.

Nov. 17, Sun.- Cloudy and warm. we stayed home all day and I varnished the kitchen floor.

Sep 7, Sat- Worked in office most of day. Called on VR Heinz and O.B Hesean in afternoon. It was pretty hot weather today.

Sep 6, Fri - nice weather; worked in office all day. We went to see Will Rogers picture “Steamboat Round the Bend” . Sure was good.

Sep 5, Thu- nice weather; attended prune canners meeting at Salem. Bob went to a show also had Ford rattles fixed. We went to Vancouver in evening and got Irene and Jean.

Sep 4, Wed.- nice weather; Bob and I went out looking at prune orchards in evening.

Sep 3, Tue- nice weather; Bob took his girl to the fair this evening and I stayed home.

Sep 2, Mon- worked in office most of day. Was out in country looking at prune orchards in evening.

Sep 1, 1935- Sun- Got up early and took Irene, Jean and Bessy to Vancouver. I came down to see Nails Bro’s on way home and Irene and Jean stayed at Vancouver.

May 31, 1935 Fri- Cool weather; worked in office all day. Called on strawberry growers in evening. Bob went with me.

May 30, Thu- Dad Hart, Bessy, Dite, and Pauline were down here today in Dite’s new car and helped decorate Joyce’s grave. Then went to homestead.

May 29, Wed- Cool weather; Worked in office all day. Irene and I went to Silverton in evening to fix up cemetery lot.

May 28, Tues- Nice weather; Was feeling bum today, but stayed around office all day.

May 27, Mon- Nice weather; attended business mens lunch.

May 26- Sun- Nice weather; Took Peggy home. Called on Ira Cusick this a.m. Visited Earls awhile. Irene caught catfish out of boat. Came home about 6:30 p.m.

April 22, Mon - Rained all day; Took mother Hart to Portland, she got her new glasses from Dr. Frazer. Peggy got her a new suit at Montgomery Wards. I called on Ed Gross and came home.

Apr 21, Sun - Rain; Called on Knaggs and then Nails then we went to Vancouver and stayed all night. The boys were there fixing kitchen.

Apr. 20, Sat - Cloudy and cool; Got Weimacht to sign up checks today.

Apr. 19, Fri- Nice weather; attended Loganberry code meeting. Roy Lux took John Rainge (?) and I to dinner.

Apr. 18, Thu - Cloudy and cool; Mr Zellner, Mr Wamperch and I finally got Mr Weimacht to sign up mortgage papers for cannery loan this afternoon.

Apr. 17, Wed- Worked in office all day. Chaff and I took his radio to Wierners radio shop this evening.

Apr. 16, Tue.- Worked in office all day/ Phaff and I worked on his radio again this evening.

Apr. 15, Mon. Raining today; Worked in office all day. Worked on Phaff’s radio in evening but blew it out pretty bad. [NOTE JEAN ELOISE GILLETTE'S 9TH BIRTHDAY]

Apr. 14 Sun- Stayed around the house all day.

Apr 13, Sat - Nice weather; Weimacht advised attorney Harris not to send out preferred stockholders notice. I called on Spears (?) in afternoon.

Apr 12, Fri. - Had Directors meeting then they met with a few preferred stockholders in warehouse to see if they could get stock for $40 a share.

Apr 9, Tue- Nice weather; worked in office.

Apr 8, Mon- Cloudy and Rains; Had preferred stockholders meeting but it did not turn out very good.

Apr 7, Sun.- Cloudy and cool; We went to Vancouver and Peggy came back with us this evening. (Note Peggy is Margaret Hart, Irene’s sister. She was born in May 26, 1916 so would be 18 at the time soon to turn 19)

Apr 6, Sat- Nice weather. Worked in office all day.

Apr 5, Fri- Cool and Rains; Worked in cannery all day. Irene and I went to Silverton this afternoon to get some flowers for little boys funeral. 

Apr 4 Thu.- Cloudy and light rains; Called on Mr. Hubbs of Hawkins and Roberts in Salem about a bond. Frank Lhaffs ? little baby Jerry died this afternoon by shocking to deaths

Apr 3, Wed.- Cloudy and light rain; City gravelled cannery street today with railroad gravel.

Apr 2 - Tues- Nice weather; Worked in office all day.

April 1, 1935. Mon.- Cloudy: We received word that two car loads of gravel were here for the cannery street.

Mar 30, Sat.- nice weather; Silverton boys had a bike race from here to Silverton today. Roy Gardner and Bob were out together to night.

Mar 29, Fri.- Nice weather; Was out to Warmpackers (?) about signing Stock certificates. T.B Enders was up awhile in the evening.

Mar 28, Thu.- Real nice weather; I attended logan berry code meeting in Salem today.

Mar. 27, Wed.- Real nice day; Mailed notices of preferred stockholders meeting.

Mar 26, Tues. - Rains and wind; worked in office all day. Irene and I went to Palace in evening . See Shirley Temple in the Little Colonel. 

Mar 25. Cold windy; Had a special directors meeting and old Weimacht tried to our salary.

Mar 24, Sun - Heavy storm with lots winds and rain; We stayed home all day.

Mar. 23, Sat.- Cold and rains ; worked in office all day.

Mar 22, Fri.- High winds and rain’ worked in office all day. Irene was sick all day with one of her old troubles. Readmits of S.P Co. (? Southern Pacific Railroad?) called at cannery about road. 

Mar 21, Thu. Cloudy: Mr Weimacht and I went to Salem to see Campbell of the State Accident Commission in the afternoon.

Mar 20, Wed.- Stormy and Showers; Bob and Frank Lauby(?) went to Silverton to arrange for a program.

Mar 19, Tue.- cloudy and windy; Mr. Weinmacht and I called on Mr. Max Geylen in Salem.

Mar 18, Mon.- cloudy and rain ; worked in office all day getting out spot lists to the trade.

Mar 17, Sun.-cloudy heavy rains with some sunshine. We took Dad and Bessie home today and got home at 5 p.m.

Mar. 16 Sat.- nice weather; worked in office all day. Bob went to Portland after he took his lesson with Ebner boy.

Mar 15, Fri.- Cloudy and rainy: worked in office invoicing orders today. took Dad Bessie and Irene over to Newborn to visit Bennett in the evening.

Mar 14. Thu.- Cloudy and windy; worked in office all day. Attended Bankers (or backers) banquet at Hotel in evening.

Mar. 13, Wed.- Nice weather: Attended loganberry code meeting at Salem. Dad Hart and bob went over with me.

Mar. 12 Tue.- Cloudy and rain; Worked in office all day invoicing goods etc.

Mar. 11, Mon.- Real nice weather. Had Dr. Frazer fit my new glasses this morning. Seen U.S. Morden 352 leave Portland. Dad and bessie came home with us.

Mar 10, Sun.- Real nice weather; We went up Vancouver in afternoon and stayed all night. Bob was away with Chuck Exner when we left.

Mar 9. Sat.-Cloudy and cool; Mr Weimacht was in a while. We went to see W C Felds show at Palace in Evening.

Mar 8, Fri.- Cloudy and cool: Worked in office all day. Irene was feeling a little better today. Bob went to the Palace show this evening.

Mar 7. Thu. - Cloudy and cool: We completed our New York shipment this a.m. Mr. Felt of U.S. warehouse was here again this afternoon.

Mar. 6, Wed.- Cloudy and cool worked in warehouse all day labeling up N>Y> orders. Irene was sick with bad cold.

Mar. 5, Tues.- Cloudy and Rains: Worked in warehouse this afternoon. Joe Hassler and I went out to North House (?) studub (illegible) meeting this evening.

Mar 4, Mon.- cloudy and cool: Worked in office all day. Had directors meeting this evening.

Mar 3, Sun - Cloudy and cooler: worked in office all day.

Mar 2, Sat - Nice weather: Mr. Wallach and I ate dinner at Hotel today and then I took him to Salem.

Mar 1, 1935 Fri.- Nice weather: Mr Wallach was here today about an augment for our new loan.

Feb 27, Wed.- Cloudy weather. Joe and wife went home after dinner. Irene, Bob, Jean and I went to Portland and then to Vancouver to visit a while.

Feb 26, Tues.- Cloudy weather . Joe Werner and wife came today and Joe paid me $35, he owed us since 1925.

Feb 25, Mon.- Worked in office all day it was pretty cool this morning.

Feb 24, Sun.- Nice weather: We got up to Knagg’s about 11 a.m. Clark and I called on Nails and went up new plank road. Had dinner and canned some. Seen Shirley Temple in “Little Miss Marker”

Feb 23 Nice weather: Mr. Potts and Bates from Colton called on me in morning. Seen Mr Weimachart at noon. 

Feb 22, Fri.- Cloudy and rains. Le Doux and I worked in warehouse getting out blackberry (type of berry is illegible). Irene, Jean, and I seen Mae West picture “Belle of the Nineties”. 

Feb 21, Thu. - Cloudy and light rains was busy in office most of the day.

Feb 20, Wed., Cloudy and some rain. Wiemachter and I called a Geo Smith at Stanton in afternoon. Irene and I seen the show “Happy News Ahead” at Gen. in evening.

Feb 19, Tues. - Nice weather . Worked in office all day.

Feb 18, Mon.- Nice weather: Went to Salem in afternoon called on George Paulus also called on Mr. Nibler at Woodbury.

Feb 17, Sun. Cloudy Took Peggy home and came home about 5:30 p.m. Bob went to show in evening and we stayed home. Went to Weimachts in evening.

Feb. 16, Sat.- Not much rain . worked in office all day. Went out to Weimachts in afternoon.
