Some of the same people as in photo below but if young man in the back is Gilman Alkire, then photo may have been taken in 1943.
Below is a screen shot from Google maps 2016 . According to the 1940 US census, the Hoyles lived in this house at 118 Westmount Drive, Alhambra City, Los Angeles county, California. I believe the large group photo taken below was taken in the front yard of this house.
Conversation with Gilman Alkire on November 11, 2016. He identified that he was on the far right next to his parents Janet Hart and Willard Alkire. Bob and Marie Hoyle are to the left of Alkires in photo. Marie is the daughter of Elmer Hart, brother of William L Hart, so she is first cousin to the Hart siblings in this photo. On far left in the photo is Newton Mallory Hart and his wife Mary Elizabeth Hughes and their sons Stuart and Duncan Hart. Don Hart with wife Mabel and David.
The Hoyles in 1940 census had no children listed. Bob was 39 at the time of the 1940 census and worked as an accounting clerk in the petroleum industry. Marie was listed as being 40 years of age and keeping house. Both had graduated from high school and were living in Alhambra city, Los Angeles county, California.
The picture below was labeled as Marie Hart. Marie married Bob Hoyle. She was the daughter of Elmer Hart and Ana Larson. Her mother was born in Sweden while her father was born in Nebraska (probably in the area of Cozad). Marie was a first cousin to my grandmother Irene and her sister Daisy Janet Hart. Bob and Marie had no children.
